It comes with all of the latest and greatest algorithms from our extensive audio signal processing research, providing significantly detailed and authentic emulations of analog pedals, studio rack gear and tube amplifiers. The result is BIAS FX, designed from the ground up with a no-compromise mindset on sound quality and ultimate flexibility. While most of these apps are variations on the same theme, we felt the world of guitar needed something new. not a high-gain fan - unless it's a tamed Soldano ala Warren Hayes. Over the last several years, a range of high-powered digital guitar programs and mobile apps have changed the way millions of guitarists play and record. I'm down to a choice between Scuffham S-Gear or Positive Grid Bias (unless there's anything out there in the same 99 price range that stomps all over them). The IR block in S-Gear is still the best. Of course you can turn down the Sag in S-Gear but I would usually run it about mid-way.

A modern high gain amp would have a stiffer power supply so note attacks would have a harder edge. Like my old brown face Bandmaster, with the amp cranked when you dig in the pick it takes some milliseconds for the power supply to ramp up to full current which softens the leading edge of the note kind of like the attack parameter in a synth ADSR. For me, S-Gear is best at what I love, old non-master volume Fenders and Marshalls with a looser, softer attack than a modern high gain amp.

Some would definitely favor Bias, younger players who prefer a more modern, brighter, tighter sound and metal heads. I used S-Gear a couple of hours a day for about two years and I played with the Bias demo a few hours.
